What is Select Choir & Glee Club? Select choir is a small auditioned group of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who show a strong interest in choral music. They are given the opportunity to perform more challenging music in a smaller ensemble. Glee Club is a larger auditioned group of singers who perform pop music in multiple voice parts while learning more about choral singing and their voice
When are auditions? Auditions will be held in September immediately after school in room 121. Your audition should only take 5 minutes and you are free to leave after it. You should sign up for audition times before those dates.
What will happen at the audition? You will be asked to do two things:
1. Sing part of a song. It is up to you to select the song. Choose something that will show off your voice the best. It could be something you’ve sung in chorus last year or something as simple as “Do Re Mi” or “Happy Birthday”.
2. You will also be asked to sing a few warm-ups which will give me an idea of your voice range.
Auditions are FUN so don’t stress out!
Do I have to audition if I was in last year? Yes. I need to hear your voice to see if it has changed and to decide what part you will sing.
Rules and Expectations. You will be expected to follow all of our school and classroom rules during the after-school rehearsal. You must also maintain passing grades and positive behavior in all classes. Select Choir and Glee Club are full year commitments.

NOTE: Since we only meet once a week, it is extremely important that all students are present at all rehearsals. Students will be allowed 1 excused absence and NO unexcused absences for this first trimester.
If you are involved in many activities after school, please plan your schedule accordingly. You cannot consistently miss all of Select Choir or Glee Club. Instead, if you must, split the time between activities. Also, Select Choir and Glee Cub are full year commitments.
